Allianz Arena
Three years only after the foundation stone was laid, the Allianz Arena was officially inaugurated in May 2005. The project was financed equally by the Bavarian capital’s two soccer clubs, TSV 1860 München and FC Bayern München. The design is by architects Herzog & de Meuron of Basel, Switzerland.

The three-tiered arena has a capacity of 69,900 seats, of which 2,200 are "business seats". The playing field has a surface of 8,000 sqm. A total of 2,874 inflated foil panels form the 64,000 sqm roof and façade: the biggest membrane shell in the world. Huge fans inside the stadium keep the panels inflated at a constant pressure.

The lighting is the most spectacular aspect of the futuristic construction: the façade lights up in a white and blue or red and white pattern, depending on which of the two Munich teams is playing

BMW World Center

Since 2007 automobile enthusiasts have had a new place to go to in Munich: the BMW Welt Munich. Next to the Olympic Park and the BMW Museum, it stands out in the shape of a double-cone and offers visitors the chance to experience the BMW brand with all their senses. Even complex developments are presented here on two levels in a simple way that everyone can understand.

Besides one of the world-wide largest permanent automobile presentations in the plaza, the conspicuous building offers space for special changing exhibitions on all aspects of such themes as economics, politics, technology, society, art and culture. In the basement interactive tables provide an individual explanation of the subject areas on display.

For those who are purchasing a new BMW, the BMW Welt turns into a highlight not least when they receive from BMW their newly acquired car in this interactive delivery centre. In the BMW Welt Junior Campus information on mobility is intelligibly conveyed through active participation to young people between seven and 13 years of age.

The Deutsches Theater

The Deutsches Theater is unique in the German theatre landscape. Established in 1896 as a stage for spoken drama by young Naturalist playwrights, the theatre evolved only one year later into the Bavarian Royal Residence's most glamorous variety venue. With only a few interruptions, the repertoire of Munich's second-largest theatre (with approximately 1600 seats) has since been dominated by international musical entertainment – a theatrical genre which the theatre is to this very day decidedly committed to. The list of stars who have performed at the Deutsches Theater is long and goes from the Bavarian comedian Karl Valentin to the magician David Copperfield and from Josephine Baker to Richard Chamberlain.

Since 1982, the Deutsches Theater has belonged to the city and has presented touring shows and performers of international class. The hottest Broadway shows tour here, as do the most popular musicals from London's West End. Stunning new productions from all over the globe often receive their German or even European premiere here. Spectacular dance productions, modern entertainment and rip-roaring live music shows top off the multi-faceted programme.

The Alte Pinakothek
The Alte Pinakothek is one of the oldest and most important galleries in the world. More than 800 masterpieces by European artists bring to life the development of art from the Middle Ages to the end of the Rococo period.
Venetian art is represented by its master painter Titian, as is Dutch baroque art by Frans Hals. Rubens occupies (with one of the largest collections of his works in the world) the center of the museum.

A further highlight is the Old German art by Altdorfer and Dürer. Both Dürer's epochal self-portrait from 1500 as well as his "Four Apostles" can be admired in the Alte Pinakothek.

Pinakothek der Moderne Museum
The biggest museum for modern art in Germany is being constructed in the immediate vicinity of the Alte and Neu Pinakothek: the Pinakothek der Moderne. In this building on around 15,000 m², four outstanding collections will offer an extensive overview of fine applied arts of the 20th century right up to the present:

In addition to art, sculpture, photography and video of the Staatsgalerie moderner Kunst, Die Neue Sammlung will present itself with firstclass examples of design and handicrafts, the Architekturmuseum der Technischen Universität with architectural illustrations, photographs and models and the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung with printed graphics and precious master illustrations.

Joint alternating exhibitions and open views in the architecture of the Munich architect Stephan Braunfels will enable comprehensive looks at the arts in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Pinakothek der Moderne joins the surrounding museums to become a unique art-historical and historico-cultural ensemble, which makes the range of western culture of the past and present in its incomparable denseness and quality worth experiencing
